carine roitfeld is one of the first and strongest influences in this industry, and a woman that inspire me each time i see her picture. she's announced today she will be leaving Vogue Paris -- the pulpit of her visionary approach to style, clothing, and everything else in between. her formula to looking good was a simple combination of feeling good, and a pair of great shoes; and that no matter what, there's nothing more keen to a person than her or his own style. i'll miss her brand of cool, but more importantly, i hope she never leaves the industry.

i will miss her pen in the pages.

i just got background word from an editor at the magazine, that my application was approved for female magazine (link)!

too excited for words now.

the weekend, in general.

last weekend was pretty mad busy.

had a fitting on friday, of which i am so tempted to flash a photo here of a look from the upcoming show, but will resist myself.

made some linguine with leek and shrimp in a white wine reduction. if it was a little less soupy, it would have been perfect. find the recipe here. i'd go a bit more on the white wine and oregon too. if you boil the shrimp with a bit of pork bone, it would be pretty yummy too.



had a shoot the next day, where i styled for a photography workshop. must say, i underestimated their coach. his post processing was quite good. excited for them to hand me the shots. a little bit queen amidala, no?

finally, tomorrow, a huge day ahead! i get to pick up my new shoes and maybe snap a few pictures of it. keep a look out for me!

i did a fitting today, and i am so tempted to show you all the headgears i made, but i won't. i'll show one, at most.

i made some shrimp and leek linguine with a white wine reduction. i think i made WAY too much broth. it's a lot soupier than expected.

i have a shoot tomorrow, which starts ridiculously early. (SERIOUSLY?! 1.5 hrs for hair and makeup?!?!)

all the photo related stuff will be up tomorrow. i'm too tired to unpack anything to find my camera now.

i'm disappointed that i've not seen any ads on this movie yet. this movie was really good. a meaty plot, great pace. and for me, the set and costume designs were beautiful. i thought the detailing was extensive, without robbing your attention of the story. look out for gong li in her final outfit -- a languid wide sleeved cream top with boot cut pants and a long coat. such class for a woman fighting the resistance.

Nightmind.

See, at the end of the day, you can tell yourself "oh a man worth your tears won't make you cry" or "kiss a fool, don't let a kiss fool you". But the fact is that when you stand in front of a mirror, sore eyed and sniffling, you know that every tear is a point to be learnt. And the ones who made you cry, they're gone. So what's left to do? Fix your face, go out, take a deep breath; that's the breath that says "Today. I start afresh again." Because one day, you won't have to say it anymore. You can bet on that.

I am slowly rediscovering the hurt people can cause when you open your heart. I find it both frustrating and yet somewhat refreshing.

the necklace in the last shot is part of a collection of accessories curated by daniel boey for the reckless shop. i am in absolute infatuation with the garishness and the prehistoric-meets-sci fi effect. amazing. $149 if i'm not mistaken. limited quantity, exclusive only to the reckless shop.

i've been listening to yeah yeah yeahs all day long. skeletons has to be my favourite of the lot. i want this to be my funeral march.

signatures.

i'm fascinated when i see a trace of a fingerprint lying around, say on a strip of tape. because you just wonder, who this belongs to? what was the gender, the name, the background? how'd he leave this tape, why'd he leave this tape? what did she wear? what was he thinking? where'd she go after accidentally leaving one of her most signature marks for the world to possibly exploit.

i found a set of paintings, they're beautiful and completely un-photoshopped.

the artist explains, "A thumb impression is used in India in place of a signature by people who are illiterate.
It started with an advertising idea and it went all the way to an exhibition. A campaign created for an NGO called Vidya. They have been empowering women & children in Delhi, Mumbai and Goa for over 25 years. A series of painting were created only using thumb impression and stamp-ink. With me was Subashish Dutta, a great painter and human being. It took us several nights creating them. And the best part, we made them as painting and less as posters. No Photoshop was used creating them. Later on, two of the paintings were selected for the Indo-Korean Art Exhibition, 2006."

i found the flooding to be pretty funny actually. seeing hermes half submerged in grime and drainjuice got me chuckling. for those who lived under a rock, orchard road was flooded last night, and this morning the twitterworld went mad with pictures of the aftermath.
