i wished more local publications would do bigger stories. to me, stories are not just about plonking advertisers throughout the spread. it's also about a fantasy, taking pains and pages to create a certain atmosphere and a fantasy. after all, isn't that why we pick up monthly magazines -- to catch a glimpse of a fashion fantasy? why bother paying $5 a copy for a bite of reality and what we already know, when the pages can be used to transport readers into another spectacle altogether.
